Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and sceen (“sceen”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the sceen app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use sceen.
Who can use sceen
You must be at least 13 years old to use sceen. Where local law requires a higher age to consent to online services — 16 in some European countries — you must meet that age instead. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use sceen only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Your account
You are responsible for your account and for what happens through it. Keep your sign-in method secure, give us accurate information, and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access. You may not impersonate someone else or create an account on another person’s behalf without permission.
Your content
Your rankings, lists, posts, replies, profile, and any images you upload remain yours. You keep ownership of everything you create.
To run the service, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, adapt, and display your content — but only for the purpose of operating and improving sceen and showing your content to the people you have chosen to share it with.
“Adapt” here means the mechanical work of running a service: resizing an avatar so it displays correctly, or re-encoding an image so it loads quickly. It does not mean we may rewrite what you wrote, or use your content anywhere other than in sceen.
This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies inside our seven days of rolling backups, and for content already shared into conversations other people took part in.
How you may use sceen
Use sceen lawfully and decently. Specifically, do not:
- Post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, or infringes someone else’s rights.
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorised to access.
- Scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract data from the service.
- Interfere with or overload the service, or circumvent rate limits or security measures.
- Enter a phone number that is not yours, or use phone verification or friend discovery to contact, harass, or work out who owns a number.
- Reverse engineer the app except to the extent that right cannot be excluded by law.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Third-party services
sceen uses Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In, which are governed by Apple’s and Google’s own terms. Film and television information comes from TMDB. Verification texts are sent through Telnyx and delivered by mobile carriers. Your use of sceen through the App Store is also subject to Apple’s terms.
Apps downloaded from the App Store
These terms are between you and sceen only, not with Apple. sceen, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its contents. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for the app.
If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app. sceen, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, claims under consumer protection or similar law, and any third-party claim that the app infringes that party’s intellectual property rights.
Your licence to use the app is limited to Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, on your acceptance, have the right to enforce them against you.
Copyright and takedown
We respect copyright and expect the same of our users. If you believe something on sceen infringes your copyright, email privacy@sceenapp.com with enough detail to act on: identification of the work, where the material sits in sceen, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, and a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
We will remove or disable material that is properly the subject of such a notice, and we may terminate accounts that repeatedly infringe. If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake, write to the same address and we will look again.
Text messages and friend discovery
Linking a phone number and connecting contacts are optional. If you ask to link a phone number, sceen sends you a text message containing a one-time verification code, for example: “Your sceen verification code is 123456. Reply STOP to opt out.” By entering a number and requesting a code, you agree to receive that text.
- Frequency: only when you request a code, and again if you ask for it to be re-sent. We send no marketing or promotional texts.
- Cost: message and data rates may apply.
- Where: US and Canadian numbers only.
- Opt out and help: reply STOP to the sceen number to stop texts, and START or UNSTOP to receive them again. Reply HELP, see our Support page, or email support@sceenapp.com.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Enter only a number that is yours. A number you link is used to let people who have it find your account, as our Privacy Policy describes; it is not a way to sign in. If you connect your contacts, we process the phone numbers in them as that policy describes, and you can disconnect them and delete what we saved at any time from Settings.

Deleting your account, and termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. Deletion is scheduled 7 days ahead and can be cancelled during that window by signing in again; after that it is permanent and cannot be undone.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.
The service is provided as is
sceen is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will always be preserved. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, sceen will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to sceen will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars (US$100). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and sceen agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New York, New York, and each of us waives any objection to venue there. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory laws in your country of residence.
Changes to the service
sceen is under active development. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may suspend or discontinue the service. Where we discontinue it entirely, we will give reasonable notice and a way to retrieve your data first, unless the law or a genuine emergency prevents that.
The rest
If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force and the unenforceable part is limited to the minimum extent necessary. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and sceen about the service, and replace anything said earlier on the subject.
You may not transfer or assign these terms. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, and your rights under them travel with you.
If you send us feedback or a suggestion, we may act on it without owing you anything in return. We are not asking for confidential information, so please do not send any.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will give notice in the app or by email. Continuing to use sceen after a change means you accept the updated terms.
